Eine hits up Shoreditch

Ben Eine has been painting new material (and in somewhat of a new font) on a wall which both D*Face and Steve Powers (amongst many other acclaimed street artists) have been given the opportunity to spruce up. The wall, belonging to Village Underground in East London, doesn’t just offer passersby any old Eine painting though – the artist whose work was given as a gift by David Cameron to Barack Obama, has created this piece in support of Shelter’s Homes for London campaign.
Eine voiced his outlook on the situation of London’s housing crisis, saying:
“The campaign says that London is the best city in the world. But our housing is in crisis. There’s a desperate shortage of affordable homes for Londoners. We’re priced out of home ownership and we’re competing to rent run-down properties for astronomical prices. London’s next Mayor will get new powers to fix our housing. We say: London’s housing deserves the same commitment as London’s transport. We’ve got Transport for London. Now the Mayor must create Homes for London.”
