Secret Cinema bring us Secret Gallery

31st October running throughout 2013

First came Secret Cinema, then Future Cinema and now comes Secret Gallery, the 19th production by the innovators behind the Secrets. The creators of Secret Cinema, known for their innovative merging of film with music, and theatre with live performance, now offer audiences Secret Gallery. As of 31st October, artists such as Doug Foster (also exhibiting at ‘Bedlam,’ Old Vic Tunnels), Rachid Koraïchi, Houria Niata, Alice Roberts and James Ostrer will be undertaking productions ranging from ‘The Red Shoes’ and ‘Battle of Algiers’ to ‘Prometheus’.

One expects the Secret crew and its artists will manage fully to explore new ground when it comes to various ways of exhibiting immersive art and utilising unique new spaces in unexpected ways.

Yes, the bigger institutions have caught on to performance art of this nature (though perhaps ‘experiential art’ is a better term for it) but it’s always good to see the smaller independent companies doing what they do best with it.
